Brunch with strip steak

INGREDIENTS

FOR brunch:

  • 1/2 cup Hodgson Mill Oat Bran Cereal
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces diced pancetta
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined peeled and deveined

FOR STEAK:

  • 4 New York strip steaks 8-10 ounces each
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons neutral flavored oil such as corn oil, safflower oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil or peanut oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves smashed
  • 5 sprigs fresh thyme
